When I was in High School, my friend Trace told me that this was an example of Faith No More before they figured out that they could sing.

Despite this, it's interesting to wonder what this album says about the style and direction of the band, and what they would have been had not Mike Patton taken over the group on the second album.

While perhaps musically rough, "We Care A Lot" is also very honest and direct, whereas everything afterward takes on a rather different musical and lyrical style, perhaps describable only as "The more mundane offshoots of Mr. Bungle style thinking".
