In addition to various unuseful pronouns for all you self-loving people,
me is most importantly the name of a package of text formatting macros for
nroff (and therefore for
me "provides a canned formatting facility for technical papers in various formats". A tremendous number of papers have indeed been produced using this macro package (in conjunction with
eqn, most likely).
Showing its deep UNIX roots,
me is commonly used by Bell Labs^W^WAT&T^WLucent researchers. The style of text processing is generally more lightweight than LaTeX or even TeX; it emphasises the use of auxiliary programs (see the long list above!) which "just happen" to work together to produce the desired effect, rather than a single monolithic "solution".
Personally, like almost everybody today, I use LaTeX to write technical stuff.
