Super Bowl XIX|Super Bowl XXI
January 26, 1986
The Chicago defense kept New England stymied, and the Bears romped in Super Bowl XX as a result, scoring the highest number of points by a single team ever in a championship game.
The defense, including William "The Refrigerator" Perry, enabled Chicago to dominate, and Bears QB Jim McMahon became the first quarterback in Super Bowl history to rush for two touchdowns. Chicago MVP defensive end Richard Dent made two key sacks, and helped to limit the Patriots to just 7 yards rushing the entire game.
Attendance for the game was 73,818. Chicago head coach Mike Ditka became the second (after Oakland coach Tom Flores) person to win a Super Bowl both as player and as head coach. Raymond Berry headed up the efforts of New England.

Personal note: this was the first (and only) sports bet that yours truly ever made. I won one thousand dollars by betting my grandfather at the beginning of the season that the Patriots would make it to the Super Bowl. I was sure I'd have to pay up. Good thing I didn't say they'd WIN it. :)
