My old hometown, Sayreville is located by the Raritan River in Middlesex County in central New Jersey. Nearby towns include South Amboy, New Jersey; South River, New Jersey; Perth Amboy, New Jersey; and East Brunswick, New Jersey. The population is around 20,000. It is about thirty miles from New York City and sixty miles from Philadelphia. It is divided into several sections: Parlin, Morgan, and Lower Sayreville.

Previously known by such names as Roundabout (due to its key location on the bay), Sayreville gets its name from the old Sayre & Fisher Brick Company, one of the first brickmaking plants in the United States. The bricks were made from the massive deposits of clay the town is built on. Sayre & Fisher bricks were used to build the pedastal the Statue of Liberty stands on. While the company no longer exists, their large brick smokestack still stands on Main Street.
