Apollo is the name of a
UNIX
workstation manufacturer that
was established in 1980 by former employees of
DEC and Prime. Apollo offered a range of workstations that
ran Apollo's
proprietary Domain operating system.
HP bought Apollo
in 1989. Prior that HP gave their workstations boring names like J-class and C-class. Despite the hardware influence continuing on, the Domain software was phased out in favor of HP's 'UX'.
