A small "thing" that in some way connects to, protrudes from, clips onto, attaches to, fastens to, couples with, binds to, or tacks onto another, bigger "thing." Many times they are used for security/privacy/safety enhancements, such as padlocks, hardware locks for software, and condoms. They tend to be very effective yet often quite annoying.
