Cradle of Filth don't get a lot of
respect in the
black metal scene, due to their relative popularity and the fact that they are from the
U.K., not
Norway. Also, lead vocalist
Dani Filth is sort of a silly happy little
goth gremlin and is difficult to take seriously. However, I enjoy their work because it is
loud,
fast, and
melodramatic in the extreme. They make use of synth and string sounds,
breathy female vocals and long,
convoluted lyrics which are usually unintelligable through Dani's high-pitched,
lightening-fast delivery but are interesting as poems on their own.
