Cradle of Filth don't get a lot of respect
in the black metal
scene, due to their relative popularity and the fact that they are from the U.K.
, not Norway
. Also, lead vocalist Dani Filth
is sort of a silly happy little goth gremlin
and is difficult to take seriously. However, I enjoy their work because it is loud
, and melodramatic
in the extreme. They make use of synth and string sounds, breathy female vocals
and long, convoluted
lyrics which are usually unintelligable through Dani's high-pitched, lightening
-fast delivery but are interesting as poems on their own.
