Vocal style used mostly by mallcore bands and a select few rap/rock groups. Characterized by singing in a calm, melodic (usually staccato) style, and during the middle (or chorus) of the song...switching vocal styles to something hard, aggressive, or angry. Sometimes used in vice-versa, or rapped vocals changing to screamed vocal parts periodically from time to time, coordinating with the tempo of the music. The song "Crawling" by Linkin Park is a perfect example. The frontman sings in a melodic manner during the beginning of the song and switches to raspy, whiny screams when the song reaches its chorus.
