One of three
heroes of the
Book of Daniel in the
Old Testament.
He, as well as Shadrach and Meshach, were persecuted by the King of Babylon, Nebuchadnezzar, because they would not bow down to his authority, even after he enslaved the Jews.
According to Daniel, the three were thrown into a furnace and their flesh was spared, by the Lord, and to the dismay of the Babylonians, the three were unharmed.
Abednego, is also hailed as the first hacker/cracker, since he (and his two associates) walked through a firewall.
