A
legal but probably
unsafe substitute for
poppers (
amyl nitrite) that is commonly sold in
sex shops and more recently has started showing up at
head shops. It's intended use is to speed up the
heart rate which supposedly increases the
intensity of the
male orgasm (the only reason I state that
gender specific is that I've honestly never heard of women using them.) They apparently cause incredibly
painful headaches after the initial
rush and when purchased
wholesale come with a
haz-mat sheet.
I think it's kind of a frightening symbol of people's attitudes about their sexual experiences when they're willing to huff a toxic solvent in pursuit of the better orgasm.
