Take a circle. Draw a diameter line from the upper right to the lower left. This should be done in red, for preference. Now superimpose the end result over the the word "foo", or a simplified picture of foo, and you have an image which, in theory, anyone in the civilized world will recognize as meaning "no foo allowed".
