Blackness turns to gray

Dreams scrambled, reality intrudes, consciousness returns

Her hair, tangled, brushing my nose

My arms, reach out, for during the night, we have drifted apart.

She's not yet awake, but she still moves closer to me.

I kiss the soft hair, at the back of her neck

I feel her skin crawl, in a sleepy protest

I'm so cold...but she's so warm

I snuggle in closer...and she protests more...disturbing her 5am dreams

So I roll over, and feel my spine against hers. And I wait....

Because I know, that it's only a matter of time until she rolls over, and wraps her arms around me

And I smile
