The
campus network at
Florida International University. Currently a mix of
ATM,
Ethernet and
Fast Ethernet.
FIU has an entire Class B (or, what
was a Class B before CIDR) at its
disposal. That's 65536 addresses. Another way of saying it is 131.94.0.0/16.
Allocation of it has been rather messy in the past and
network administrators have been trying to
renumber as to make more
efficient use of the
address space. FIUnet is rather well managed and
reliable, we have had very few network outages, allowing me to use
Everything in a very
trouble free manner!
FIUnet used to use all kinds of protocols, including
LAT,
IPX,
Pathworks and so on. Luckily all these old
protocols were abolished, and
TCP/IP is the
victor!
