Deep Linking is the act of having a hyperlink direct a user to a page other then those pages the maintainer of the site would wish the user to see first. Usually this an advertisement laden home page, which is hard to navigate to the damned place the user wants to go. Several companies have tried to make it illegal to do deep linking, this is of course much like making an card catalog illegal, or telling people that can't flip a book open to any page. A federal judge made it clear in 2000 that deep linking was very legal, and yet the issue keeps popping up. It makes you wonder why we're not allowed to bodily assault stupid people for the good of humanity.
