There are no Bryn Mawr chicks. That is to say, Every trueblooded Mawrtyr would object to being labelled a "chick". Chick brings forth images of women whose purpose in life is to land the right man, rather than land a doctorate. The use of the word "chick" can imply that women are quasi-subordinate to men and are defined in terms of romantic/sexual relations with them, as opposed to being their equals, equals whose identities are defined by a much wider variety of accomplishments and aspects of character than "chick" permits.

Most Bryn Mawr Women will be gladly referred to as Mawrtyrs. After a few weeks, the first years become accustomed to Froshling. But chick? Never!
