English soccer stadium, home of Sheffield United.

Bramall Lane had long been used as a cricket and football ground long before Sheffield United took residency there. Indeed, their bitter city rivals Sheffield Wednesday were the previous tenants prior to their move to Hillsborough.

The ground was Sheffield's venue for Yorkshire county cricket until the 1970s, when United decided to build a new stand over the top of the cricket pitch, thus ending Sheffield's association with Yorkshire cricket. Ironically, the new stand crippled the club financially, a burden from which they have never fully recovered.
