A bionic thing/person/device is a
creature made of a combination of
electronic and
biological elements. The term applies equally to an electronic device with biological elements, such as the infamous
Terminator, who was a robotic
endoskeleton covered in living flesh, and biological elements in a robotic
gestalt, like the
Robocop or that weird
cyclops guy from the
Stallone movie
Judge Dredd.
Once a plot foil in sci-fi, bionics are a part of modern life, with cochlear implants for the hearing impaired, pacemakers, artificial valves, and stents in human hearts, and various prosthesis for limbs and sundry parts.
