Radha is the
feminine counterpart of
Krishna, the Supreme Being. Often depicted as
Krishna's female companion, he and she are in fact One. Together they represent the essence of
love transcendental, the original
spiritual lovers. As one must
transcend one's
material body of skin to touch the higher
spiritual plane, so one must
transcend the material love of skin to touch the higher level of spiritual love,
unconditional love.
Srila Prabhupada said,
"Krishna consciousness means to be serious and determined to transcend the material attraction between man and woman in order to become attracted to the lotus feet of Radha and Krishna. The sum and substance of material life is attraction for woman. And the sum and substance of spiritual life is attraction for Radha-Krishna."
