Khmer is an
Austroasiatic language. Much like the situation between
Chinese and
Japanese, though the
Khmer script resembles
Lao or
Thai, the
Khmer language has a completely different structure. Here is a sample
phrase in
Khmer:
"neuv m'dohm nih mian miin reu te?" = "Are there any
land mines around here?"
Land mines are quite a problem in
Cambodia.
