In the the dark mists of
time, that is the pre
Windows 3.x days when
DOS ruled supreme, so-called PC
(and usually self-proclaimed) power users would denigrate
Mac users choice of machine by calling GUIs a
W.I.M.P interface.
As in
Windows, Icons, and Mouse pointer.
Real men, they would openly
boast about
preferring the DOS prompt.
Of course most of the
bozos back then had never
seen, let alone used
X on a
Unix workstation. Or even a
touched Macintosh for that matter!
