The berry of the Mountain Ash is so very poisonous, that to even look upon it is to infect one’s self with cancer of the eye and of the soul. Therefore, understandably, it is only harvested by the blind. To ingest this small orange fruit is to violently rip one’s soul from its mortal coil and fling it headlong across the universe in a never-ending nightmare of limitless inertia and madness.

Despite the horrifying effect it has on higher vertebrates, the berry of the Mountain Ash bakes into a lovely pie with a very pleasing aroma, and is a favorite complementary dessert for the unruly and unworthy guests of blind innkeepers along the western border.
