All animals, birds and insects can have large, cute, human style eyes, eyelashes and tear ducts (e.g. A Bug's Life)
All nice animals, birds and insects have pearly white teeth and smiles. Bad guy animals and insects will sometimes have large yellow fangs, of course, but, matching smiles. (see Chicken Run).
All animals, birds and insects, regardless of species, will gain grey hair and little gold eyeglasses when they become grandmothers.
Opposable thumbs are common throughout the animal kingdom
Marriage, and mating for life is widespread throughout the cartoon animal kingdom. Ants fall in love. Chickens pair bond. Goldfish can blow kisses through the water.
Mice have extraordinary strength and are able to swing hammers, lift anvils, and heave safes through the air without breaking a sweat.
Mice, cats and dogs eat the same food, and in equal quantities. Sandwiches are particularly popular. (see: Tom and Jerry, Scooby Doo, etc.)
