The pungi is a reeded flute of India; it has two bamboo tubes with reeds set into a pipe of clay, gourd, or coconut. It looks strange and bulgy, like a pregnant oboe.
One of the tubes is for the background drone, and one has multiple finger holes, for the melody.
It is the instrument that snake charmers use.
