The favorite
wine style of
Bridget Jones. It's
known for being
all things to all
winemakers; you can
fiddle and
tweak this little guy to
your heart's content. Like a sweeter
wine? Do a late
harvest. Drier? A bit of
chalk in the soil. Like
oak? Hate
wood flavors? Barrel-ferment accordingly. Chardonnay, a most
limber varietal, will
buddy up to whatever
flavors you wanna
coax out of it. The
French Burgundies tend to be very
mineral and
apple flavored, while
Merkin Chards will go for
vanilla,
oak, and
butter a bit more. The
Aussie versions will be any of those
flavors and more, but always
rich, rich,
rich.
You'll hear everyone say this, but the best cheap Chardonnay out right now is gonna be Lindeman's Bin 65. I've seen it go for $6 in Colorado, and damn, it's one fine-ass wine.
