The Nokia cryptocluster expands their IP networking product line to include a simple VPN solution.

Designed to remove VPN traffic from the firewall the Cryptocluster delivers Active Session Failover and Dynamic Load Balancing by allowing multiple VPN devices to function as one gateway, presenting one IP address. Management is provided by a Java application.

Easy scalability seems to be key, you can automatically add a new cluster onto the network and the clustering OS detects and adds it without user intervention. Unplugging an active server causes all active sessions to be redistributed to other cluster boxes, by sharing of the IPSec security associations between the boxes.

The system runs on a 266Mhx StrongArm processor under AlchemyOS, a network OS built by Network Alchemy, who are now part of Nokia. Protocols provided include IPSec, L2TP and PPTP
