All of these islands lie in the Southern Ocean
surrounding Antarctica. Although the official Southern Ocean
lies below 65 degrees south latitude, most people would delineate it by connecting the southern tips of South America, Africa, Australia, and Tasmania. Anyway, pack ice often strays into the fifties during the Southern Hemisphere winter, and our list will cover islands quite a bit north of there. This list, then, will overlap somewhat with the lists of Atlantic Ocean Islands, Pacific Ocean Islands, and Indian Ocean Islands.
All of the islands below lie along the Antarctic coast. The South
Shetlands are also coastal.
