exam is primarily
Windows based, and covers only the most
basic of networking
knowledge, including:
- Network Topologies
- OSI Reference Model
- Network Protocols such as IPX, SPX, TCP, IP, and NetBEUI
- RAID levels
- Overview of various hardware including router, switches, hubs and NICs
- Light network troubleshooting skills
- Connectivity testing using ARP, Telnet, NBTSTAT, Tracert, and NetStat
- Prioritizing potential network issues
- DNS, DHCP, WINS and the HOSTS file
- General security tips
(As of November, 2000)The test costs $185 in the US/Canada/Puerto Rico for non corporate CompTIA members. Prices range up through $215 in other countries.
