An auxiliary electric motor, powered by a deep cycle battery, used for boat propulsion. Since it does not attain the speeds of internal combustion-based motors, nor does it make nearly as much noise, it is commonly used while trolling for fish, hence the name. Minn Kota and MotorGuide are the two main producers of trolling motors. Commonly seen on bass boats and at your local K-Mart.
