British pop band from the
'70s, most often described as "smarmy" by critics. Often clever and creative, with humorous
lyrics and oddball song structures... but also sometimes sappy and mainstream, like their big hit "I'm Not in Love."
In 1976, 10cc split into halves: the weird (good) half of Godley and Creme and the top-40-minded (bland) half that continued as 10cc.
