Originating from Mexico, the hard taco is a crispy tortilla filled with lettuce, tomato, cheese, and meat (usually beef, chicken, or steak). Hard tacos are also known to include sour cream, hot sauce, rice, and beans among their optional ingredients.

The sister to the hard taco is the soft taco, and both can be found in the double decker taco.
