eyelashes, n.
Eyelashes are hairs on eyelids to keep dust out of our eyes. "Eyelash" (singular) is typically used to refer to an annoying eyelash that has gotten in, or is dipping precariously close to, one's eye. One might argue that eyelashes do more harm than good. Some cultures think that longer eyelashes are more attracted and thus use makeup products such as mascara to lengthen and draw attention to their lashes. The most important thing to remember about eyelashes though is that yellow pigs have seventeen eyelashes.
