A large area (actually, a whole
delegación)
in the South of
Mexico City, bordering with
Tlalpan.
The center of Xochimilco is a major turist destination, because of the many square miles of canals, lakes and
little vegetable-growing islands (called
chinampas).
The tourist would be well advised to bargain brutally when
contracting one of the punts, especially if said
tourist looks pale and appetizingly gringo.
The easiest way to get to Xochimilco is with the metro
ligero, which you catch in Taxqueña.
