I didn't think I ever needed something to scream into
But now that I see how it all comes around,
I wouldn't mind something

I always knew: let my persistence speak for me
and I knew how
But it's only now that I can feel it I want it

I watch young angry people
make mistakes I'd avoided
while I busy myself mending fences

I see my accidental mentors
standing with endurance like oaks
thank them for quietly casting shadows so I could stand in shade

I see the old guard coming around
grateful they could let go of stigma
allowing themselves to see how far we've come

What we deduce is different from what we learn
Theory is how we conceive it, practice is how we feel it
But it takes both to know it

Time management, cause and effect, passion
The way it all plays out is more important
than the way you thought you wanted it to be

I don't think I'll ever need something to scream into
because I always knew it'd come full circle
But enough, there's work to be done
