Virginia Dare was the first child born of English parents in North America, on August 18, 1587, on Roanoke Island.

Her parents were Ananias and Eleanor Dare.

Three years later, the colony on Roanoke Island had vanished, leaving only the name of a Native American tribe, "Croatoan", carved on a tree.

Virginia Dare is also the name of a band in San Franciso.
