Thuringia (Thüringen in German) is a Bundesland in central Germany. It is one of the new federal states created from former East Germany after reunification in 1990. The city of Weimar is located here, just east of the capital, Erfurt. Also of note are the ruins and memorial at the Buchenwald concentration camp and the sprawling Thuringian Forest.
