Senara is the patron saint of the parish church of Zennor in Cornwall and after whom the village is named.

The tale is that Senara's jealous stepmother accused her of infidelity after which she was condemned to be burnt. However when it was disocovered that she was preganant this sentenced was commuted to one of being nailed into a barrel and thrown into the sea. Senara was saved from death by an angel who miraculously appeared to feed and care for her, after which she was washed up unharmed together with her child in Ireland.
