Pep Boys is an auto supply and service store chain, originally founded in Philadelphia in 1921.
It is most famous for its three mascots/spokesmen, Manny, Moe and Jack, who are based on the company's four (yes, four!) founders, Emanuel "Manny" Rosenfeld, Maurice "Moe" Strauss, W. Graham "Jack" Jackson, and Izzy Strauss who all met while serving in the Navy during World War I.
Manny is based on and resembles Rosenfeld, Moe is Maurice Strauss, and Jack's namesake is Jackson, but he resembles Izzy Strauss. The real Jack left the company in the mid-1930s and his picture in the logo was replaced with Izzy, who was Moe's brother, but they kept the mascot's name the same.
The trio have become pouplar culture icons immortalized in songs by Frank Zappa and The Dickies. They have even been spoofed on The Simpsons and Saturday Night Live.
