A very important
date in
Steven Spielberg's
Back to the Future trilogy. It's 'a redletter date in the
history of
science' according to the
1985 Doc Brown, because that's the day he was standing on a
toilet,
hanging a clock,
slipped, hit his head on the
porcelain, and when he came to he had a
vision, a
revelation, a
picture in his head. The vision was of the
flux capacitor, which makes
time travel possible.
This is the day back to which
Marty McFly accidentally sent himself after being chased by the
Libyan terrorists. Later during this day, Marty bumps into his
parents, screwing up the event that allows them to
fall in love. Marty spends the rest of that week trying to fix the situation with his parents and
get back to late October of 1985.
