It occurred to me today that there was a brief
indestructable time when I was under
warranty, and it is over. With the average
life span rising above 50 only recently,
evolutionwise, it is easy to see where this might be valid.
There was a time when I just naturally bounced back from everything: days without sleep, sudden extreme exertion, frequent exposures to very disturbed people, an all taco bell diet, drinking/puking/drinking, etc.
Now things like that tend to kick the legs right out from under me...the inevitable Darwinian outcome of sitting in a dark room reading films or email for most of my waking hours. It has led to overwhelming feelings of mortality.
Less important and easy to ignore (the frame on the picture, really) are the "Welcome-to-aging!" heads-up signs:
baldness
insomnia
pudginess
achy joints
mellowness
forgetfulness
