Kan'ami (1333 - 1384) was an early writer of plays for the Noh Theatre. He introduced important elements into the development of the style - his most important contribution, though, was his son, Zeami (1363 - 1443). Kan'ami was invited to perform before the shogun, Ashikaga Yoshimitsu (1358 - 1408).
