Joseph Coyetty invented toilet paper in 1857. He sold his invention to The
British Perforated Paper Company in 1880, but it didn't come in roll form, it
came in boxes of small pre-cut squares.
Toilet-paper in roll form became common (at least to the middle and upper
classes) in America by 1907.
