1939- American Poet, novelist, folk musician and early member of the Beat Generation

Longtime resident of Greenwich Village where he ran a bookstore called Peace Eye. He founded The Fugs with poet Tuli Kupferberg. The bookstore was ultimately raided by the cops and he was hauled up on obscenety charges.

He was inspired by Allen Ginsberg who he introduced to the New York Rock scene. Books: Tales of Beatnik Glory, Poems from Jail

He edited and published the broadside: Fuck You: A Magazine Of The Arts

He also wrote an investigative report on Charles Manson, called "The Family: The Story of Charles Manson's Dune Buggy Attack Battalion".

He also published many Mimeographed essays which were then circulated in the avant-garde Lower East Side he so loved.
