In
Latvian Mythology, Dekla is the
Goddess of
destiny and fortune., especially of
children and
infants, and is said to
cradle newborn children against her
breast.
She is considered part of a trinity of destiny deities (Latvia's take on the Fates) which includes her two sisters, Laima and Karta. Dekla plays an integral role as the beginning of destiny, while Laima is the planner of destiny. Who knows what Karta does, but I'm sure it's important.
