A boxer's break is the common term for a
fracture of the fifth
metacarpal. The name is derived from the most common cause of the break-
punching something a bit too hard for your own good. Most are caused by beating on
walls, fences, and other
immovable objects. There isn't much to be done to cure the break, like most other fractures...
immobilization and painkillers are the standard treatment.
