A reference to an international gathering of vintage sailing vessels. The international race ends in Amsterdam. Popular in Atlantic Canada, particularly in Halifax, site of the Tall Ships 2000.

Tall Ships are seen as any boat with two masts or more, most commonly associated with square rigged ships.
There are many different classes of tall ship, ranging from vast, four masted square riggers, to smaller fore and aft rigged vessels. However, no matter what your length, if you've two masts then you qualify as a tall ship, and can take part in the annual Tall Ships Race.
