Cobh

Cobh is a town on an island in Cork Harbour. Known for being one of the biggest embarkation place Irish emigrants left from. Easily recognisable with all the houses perched on the steep hills rising from the harbour and a big cathedral perched on top.

The last place the Titanic stopped on its ill-fated voyage was in Cork Harbour outside Cobh. A large contingent of third class passengers boarded.

Cork Harbour is one of the largest natural harbours in the world. Warships often embark at Cobh.

Known as Queenstown before Ireland achieved independence, Britain maintained control of Cobh and several other Irish ports for some years after.
