Common name for
Hydatidiform mole. It may exist as a "complete" or "partial" mole. The complete variety is
diploid and has double the paternal complement of
chromosomes, lacking any maternal chromosomal material, and has no recognizable fetal tissue. The partial variety is usally
triploid, although it may be diploid as well. The partial mole has a recognizable but nonviable fetus.
