Possibly the first
window manager with support for
virtual windows.
vtwm is a modified version of the window manager most systems still have as a fallback default, twm.
tvtwm is a further development with more features.
None of these are popular today - fvwm was a logical step up for most people, and even its successor fvwm2 isn't widely used nowadays.
