Sometimes I find myself hanging out with a diverse crowd, to which I
often say to myself, "wow, how pc!" But, it happens, ya know. Analyzing
the motives of the production team that put together the library poster might
get out of hand. Did they just take percentages and round them to nearest
whole person? Did they take into account the difference in facial features
between people of the same race? Did they...
The United States has contained people originating from all over the
world, and will most likely continue to do so for my lifetime. It seems like
people often search for a lowest common denominator with which to easily
reduce the complex masses. Such reductionist thinking on society
American or otherwise never yields highly resolved results. I prefer to
think that such so called token gestures represent as meaningful a gesture
as a poster designer / advertiser / sitcom writer / etc. can make...
